Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about reporting, privacy, and how ReturnSafe handles a case.

01

How do I report a missing person?

Use the "Report a Missing Person" form to submit initial details. An investigator will follow up to complete the full case file, including physical description, photos, and disappearance details.

02

Can I report anonymously?

Sighting reports can be submitted anonymously. Filing a missing person report requires contact information so an investigator can follow up, but who can see that information is restricted by role.

03

Who can see sensitive information like medical or mental health conditions?

Sensitive fields are restricted to the investigator and agencies assigned to a case. They are never shown on public case pages, and every access is logged.

04

How does AI photo matching work?

Uploaded photos are compared against stored cases and given a confidence score. Every suggested match is reviewed by a human investigator before it affects a case. No identification is made by AI alone.

05

What happens after I submit a sighting?

Sightings enter an investigator review queue along with any photos, video, or GPS location provided, and are checked against active cases in that area.

06

How do I track the status of a case I reported?

Once account-based case tracking is available, reporters and family members will be able to follow investigation status and messages from investigators directly on the platform.
